The Queen of the Peak - Women's Surf Championships was created in 2009 by Surf Sister and Shelter Restaurant to celebrate and showcase the amazing surf talent here on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The contest itself spans over 3 days in Tofino Canada and offers amenities to competitors such as a complimentary welcome dinner, free childcare, free beachside massages and more. In 2016  more than 100 women and children competed for cash and prizes in Longboard, Shortboard and Princess of the Peak divisions. This community event has grown into a week long festival with fun accompanying events such as Zumba, Yoga, movie premiers, and dance parties.  We hope you can join us as and celebrate the Queen's of the Peak! Dates for 2018 are set for September 28-Septeber 30th, 2018.


September 4th 2017
Registration opens

  • Women's longboard and shortboard divisions
  • $60 for one division
  • $75 for both division
  • Entries for shortboard and longboard include a welcome reception at Shelter Restaurant
  • $40 for Princess of the Peak (16yrs and under)
  • All entries include a prize pack with swag from Billabong and more

Surf Clinic and Gathering

  • Leah Dawson is in town and is honored to be hosting an afternoon surf clinic and gathering in celebration of the vibrant local surf community and Queen of the Peak.
  • Meet on the beach for group tips and Q&A on the beach followed by water celebration time and beach hangs/social afterwards.
  • We suggest bringing clothes to change into afterwards and a bit of extra money to get yourself dinner at Surfside or from Longbeach Lodge afterwards :) 
  • Please park at the public parking or at the information centre. No parking at Pacific Sands.

Backside Kick off Dance Party and BBQ

Location: HI Tofino - Whalers on the Point Guesthouse (81 West Street, Tofino, near the Icehouse dock)

  • BBQ and Dance party. Cover by donation (suggested $5). All proceeds go to the Westcoast Transition House.
  • with DJ Orla Adams aka OWABOWA spinning World Wave, House and tribal beats.
